Sandi Jánosi Buslig (b. 2000, Gheorgheni, Romania) is a Hungarian contemporary painter whose work explores cultural identity, societal narratives, and artistic expression. Based in Girona, Spain, she blends post-impressionist influences with contemporary techniques to create immersive, thought-provoking compositions. Her expressive use of color and form captures the tension between tradition and modernity, particularly within the context of Moroccan Amazigh social issues.
Her practice is rooted in exploration—of both subject and process. The acclaimed series Ocre Breeze (2023) evokes Sahara landscapes while reflecting the resilience of the Amazigh people, creating a dialogue between place, history, and struggle. Each painting is a process of discovery, where layers of paint and movement converge into a visceral, poetic visual language.
Jánosi Buslig embraces spontaneity and control in equal measure. “Painting is an ongoing negotiation between instinct and intention,” she says. Her large-scale canvases demand a performative engagement, turning each stroke into an extension of thought and emotion—balancing chaos with harmony.
She studied painting at the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca and is currently pursuing a master’s in Digital Interactive Arts at Babeș–Bolyai University. Her work has been exhibited internationally, from traditional galleries to digital installations like Getting (a)part, a project that questions contemporary societal constructs.
Her recent explorations in video mapping extend her practice into multimedia space, investigating the interplay between body and object through projected light and motion. This allows her to transform surfaces into living canvases—continuing her commitment to sensory storytelling and immersive visual expression.
